India: trade mark database will be opened to public

The Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks has announced that the Indian Patent Office's (IPO) trade mark database will be opened to the public and freely available for searching. The measure comes in the wake of proposed amendments to the Trade Marks Rules 2002 and is meant to bring greater transparency and facilitate business decisions for potential trade mark applicants.

The Controller General's announcement is available in the news section of the IPO's website.
