Questions on Trademark search report South Africa
Hi, if the trademark is registered in South Africa, does that mean it is ONLY valid here and someone in the USA can register the same trademark there? I am looking at a computer software package I want to register and get the trademark for - but obviously I do not want to register it here and in the USA I basically stand to lose it. What do you suggest? Rather register it there as they are MUCH more TM orientated and protective - esp. if it is registered there?

Yes, a trademark is only valid in the jurisdiction were it is registered. Therefore you have to register it in the country in which the software will be sold.
